Lae postcards from the 1950s and 1960s

Those of us who grew up in Lae, before Independence in 1975, know what a beautiful place it was.
Lae was just like any town in Australia.
I often tell my kids that Lae, and the rest of PNG, before Independence, was so much more better than now.
The challenge on us now is to try give back Lae, and PNG, at least some semblance of glory days.

  1. Thank you for sharing these postcards. I lived in Lae from 1962 to 1970 except while at boarding school in Brisbane from 1965. It was the most beautiful place to live as a child. I would love to return some time to New Guinea.
